Interdisciplinary Referral
& Collaboration

From Cell to Strand™ provides an adjunct, nutrition and lifestyle behavior-focused program designed to support patients presenting with hair changes. Medical nutrition therapy is delivered by registered dietitian nutritionist Celia Margolin, MS, RDN, alongside structured nutrition education sessions and a dedicated nervous system education session led by clinical psychologist Cathleen Margolin, PhD.

This approach complements dermatologic and broader medical care, supporting patients with hair concerns in the context of metabolic, endocrine, immune, inflammatory, or nutrient-related factors.

Nutrition guidance emphasizes whole dietary patterns, with a focus on plant-forward nutrition and nutrient adequacy to support the metabolic demands of the hair follicle while accounting for long-term health outcomes.

Nutrition assessment may incorporate dietary analysis, clinical history, and relevant laboratory data when available. Additional testing may be recommended in coordination with the patient’s healthcare team when appropriate.

Care is collaborative and coordinated with dermatologists, primary care physicians, endocrinologists, and other treating clinicians as needed.

What to Expect After Referral

Referred patients undergo a comprehensive nutrition assessment and receive medical nutrition therapy aligned with their existing treatment plan. Care is coordinated with referring providers when appropriate.
